Agree with the 35mm f1. 8 sony lens. Amazing lense. Love it.

Only problem: made in China and quality control, like you said, poor. First 35mm i got had markings showing it was dropped or something. Next one had a little mark/scratch but i was ok with.

    Aside from that great lense.

I hate the kit lens. I find it clunky, the color meh, it's not sharp, and it's only good if you're shooting your kids on vacation at Disneyland

how does the newer 18-135 lens factor in here? I'm guessing you would keep the 35mm prime and replace the kit 16-50 with the 18-135 – thoughts?

Getting a used a6000 that has the 18-105. Will probably only buy one prime to go with it but I have not settled on the 35 or 50 yet

Enjoyed this as it addresses my needs. I have never achieved better quality photography than my 35mm Zeiss on my Contax 149 Quartz (relegated to artifact status for many years). Might I adapt this actual lens to my Sony a6000? I am dismayed with the Zeiss pricing.

Your channel is a gift and our savoir. Not trying to hype the most expensive lenses.

I also agree with you, that 50 or 85mm Portrait and Simple Kit Lens is more than enough.

Hello all, now it's 2019, should I buy 35mm 1.8 lens for my a6000 for its function + small lightweight (for personal usages, only travel, lifestyle and family photos), and I just want to upgrade something new since I am with the kit lense for 3-4 years already. Do you have any advice? Many thanks

I came across your channel a couple of weeks ago and so far you are the only one I’ve found in YouTube with the precise information on the lenses for Sony Alpha series, great comparisons among different lenses. And you don’t bore me to death I actually watch your videos till the end. I bought a sony a6000 like 2 months ago. I like photography and it’s my hobby, always using my iPhone so I decided to get a camera instead. However I decided to get the 35mm as you mentioned in several videos it was a great lense and it totally is. However I was wondering if you have a recommendation for a lense , as I will take a trip to a place where you can see the stars and the Milky Way. So not really sure which one I should buy and I would like to have your opinion on that. A bit long but i wanted to thank you for your videos, they’re definitely helping me a lot while learning more about the Sony camera, which i totally love.

I agree with 3:46 . I have the 50mm and I wish I had gone for the 35mm… The 50mm is a great lens, but it's too zoomed for the APS-C sensor and for everyday stuff or travelling it's not really usable…

I want a lens so i can zoom on any object from around 100-150m to get pictures without and pixel breakdown?
Is there any for sony a6000?

The Rokinon is manual focus, but, if you use the camera in aperture priority, will the shutter speed change automatically to match the exposure previously set or you’ll have to set the shutter speed and ISO manually as well?

Good video. I think you are spot on with most everything except the sony 35mm having faster auto focus than the 50mm? I think that is debatable.

From my expierience – none of those lenses are worth the price compared to super cheap kit lens. Most of them are worth 2-5 times the price of 16-50 and they are 10-20% better at best with exception of Rokinon/Samyang manual lenses – they are really good and super fun to use. IMO if You are a casual photographer stay away from expensive Sony lenses, expecially 18-200 (overpriced garbage) and have fun with kit lens, for more range go for 55-210. If You can afford them, You should go for full frame camera and use their full potential. Otherwise its a waste of Your money. Ive already wasted too much for stuff like that and results were dissapointing. Thats my opinion.

English is not my native language so sorry if something went wrong.

Maybe I have more faith in some very, very well reviewed lens. Try the almost legendary Sigma 16 1.4, the Sony/Zeiss 35/2.8 and the superb Sony Zeiss 55 1.8. Ok, these lens are not cheap, but you will keep them forever.
Btw: any tips for 3rd party flash for a6000-6500?
