★ The Sony 18-105 F4 G OSS Review ★ If you could only have ONE lens, which lens would it be and why? For me, having a zoom with a constant aperture that can cover me from a decently wide range to a reasonable telephoto range and still give me great quality would be the dream. The closest thing I’ve been able to find so far is this lens. The Sony 18-105 F4.

I should really ask you guys how to pronounce your Instagram handles… 😅😅 Sorry!
Getting rid of mine! I can't stand the distortion and my processing software does not do a good job correcting that. Unless you are shooting straight on, distortion is out of control if you zoom in. Using it with the a6400 and all my other Sony and Sigma Lenses don't have that problem, nor does my 70-350mm G. I have looked online on other sites which say it distorts at ALL focal lengths. I don't shoot video. If I am doing something wrong, I can't find it and I have had it for almost a year.
Good presentation 👏 one question with app you using for editing which shown here 🤔 is it light room?
I have a question :
i am new to photography and videography, i have sony a6000, may i know is this lens suitable for me to take photos for family indoor and outdoor ?
thank you.
Dunna, thanks so much! You helped me decide on getting this lens and also the A6400. Really helpful content bro!
Im totally having my eye on this lens! Though I’m having an old body (Sony a6000), I think it is better to invest on the lens.
considering purchasing a7r4 recently! think it might be a good lens for both still and video since 4k in a7r iv is in super35 crop mode, and the 26mp crop mode is good enough. is it a good choice, paired with the fe20mm 1.8g? fairly good video though
I roll the same way, thousands of dollars on gear, $1500 vehicle. 🙂
Is there another similar lens with lower f stop?
This dude 🥰
Hi Dunna,
I was about to get 24-70mm f2.8 ($1200). after your review i just started of thinking about getting 18-135mm f4 + 56mm f1.4 with total ($1100) almost the same cost. WHAT DO YOU THINK?
IMHO, this is a big flop if you are a full frame user. If you insist to use on a full-frame, I would spend my budget to SAL55200 and Sony a-mount to e-mount adapter (LA-EA3) and I will still have money in the pocket for another A-mount lens and I will have a longer focal range (yes from 55mm rather than 18mm but the aperture is same) but like I said, I'd still have money for another or two a-mount lens and have fun with it. In the end, both options will give APSC size and SAL55200 is sharper than this one.
Hey Dunna! great videos! I wonder if there is a way to see what focal lenght you are using since ther is no marks on the lens body.
I usually rock the canon 24-105 as my daily driver (I used to use it on my m50 with a speedbooster, and now I use it with my a7sii or the 28-90mm 3.8 for my AE-1 (film))
Mine is the Sony 16-55mm with my Sony A6600
Sigma 16 F1.4. 105 is just a larger, 4x more expensive kit lens.
A little late to the party but we all start from somewhere don't we? Lol. Great video. Very straightforward and very informative. Thank you. A quick question to all, I have slowly got into (Asian) wedding videography so was thinking if this would be good for events such as that? When I say good I do mean in terms of picture/video quality? I know it's not the sharpest out there but is it good enough? 18-105 would be perfect as it can adapt to most situation. To give a little more clarification into my circumstances, I have two cameras (for now) and my idea is to have one on a gimbal (beauty and devote shots), and one set up right in front of the stage (constant). I do have the sigma 16mm f1.4 and also the kit 16-55 and so looking to replace the kit lens. – Not 100% sure yet as to which lens will be on the gimbal and which one on the camera that'll just be facing the stage. Sorry for the long one guys but help a brother out lol
Great video and nearly two years later has your opinion changed? Thanks, P
can this lens be used in full frame? a7?
The 18-105 F4 is awesome, but my dream lens it's a 24-50 F2.8.
