I’ve noticed so many of you have been asking me recently wether you should go for the Sony A7II or A7III, so I really hope today’s video is helpful in making that decision a little easier! Like I mentioned in the video, both are amazing cameras fully capable of taking great photos but there are a few factors to consider depending on what kind of photography you want to pursue 🙂
If you’re after a photoshoot behind the scenes, here’s one I did on the Sony A7iii with the Sigma 855.. f1.4 ART lens:

I think when she compared the definiton, a7ii she used jpeg file right?
Great video! Is it just me or does the A7ii at 6:03+ seems to capture a bit better, the colours, the lighting etc…? I’m looking at getting into automotive photography, mainly static, mixed lighting shoots (car parks, outside…) does anyone have any recommendations, I was thinking the Sony A7ii with a sigma 35mm f1.4 Art lens?
Great rewiew! Tnx! Regrads from Croatia!
chek my wedding video guys
I bought an A7ii brand new for $800 + tax and it was a great deal. I have a 28mm f2 and I’m thinking of getting the 50mm f1.8 next
U look American but nope 👁👄👁
This one is neither . It’s the A7, we use it with Canon lenses. And a Sigma Emount adapter. Am wondering which. ii or iii ? 🤔 thanks for your comparison video, it’s very helpful
Yes a comparison would be great if you still have the 7ii. I have the 7ii and I’m having trouble with focusing. However, I feel like it would be a good challenge for me as a beginner to learn more from the a7ii. I’m just wondering I guess whether what focus points works with you the most such as Lock-on AF? Wide? etc, Thank you!
I'll keep my Olympus OM-D E-M1 II and my Panasonic G85. Even if a full-frame camera is a great value like the a7 II is, the cost of good full-frame glass is always going to be higher than it is for crop sensor cameras like mine, and of course it will be bigger and heavier as well.
Sure, there are times when I wish I had another stop or two of ISO latitude, but you might be surprised just how good crop-sensor cameras have become. The depth of field thing is no big deal: I can definitely achieve shallow depth of field and blow out the background with Micro Four Thirds with the right lenses. If you put a fast prime on a full-frame camera and shoot wide open, you might have trouble keeping your entire subject in focus.
Full-frame cameras and lenses are really more specialized tools. Most people (including professional photographers) can be just fine with a crop camera…if not Micro Four Thirds, then at most APS-C.
Which camera you prefer? For both photos and videos
so unless you're competing with the best of the best, just save the 1000$ and get an extra battery
6-12-2020/Seattle: perfect vid for me right now; looking at both models as I write this…..because I want the EVF with HSS flash. Thankyou.
I think I’ll buy the A7ll do you thinking’s better to recording my video for YouTube ……..yo pienso me compraría el A7ll para hacer mis videos para YouTube
i take a lot of burst photos when i do senior portraits (popping champagne, throwing and blowing confetti) so i’ll probably have to do the mark iii 🙈 i also feel like the eye focus is going to be a game changer
wha tabout an a7ii vs the a6400, they are both new 900.
Hi Julia, thank you so much for this side by side video. Another thing I noticed is that the white balance seems much more accurate and pleasant on the A7III (skin tone in full light etc.) Is it just an impression or did you notice that too ? Also, the camera/lens you're using for doing this YouTube video seems extremely sharp and clear. May I ask you what you're using there ? Thank you. Five stars video.
Nice! Thanks!
So here’s my question I’m not an amateur in photography I actually graduated with a broadcasting degree and love photography and have done concerts and wedding videography but all without my own camera, I bought an a7 ii but now I’m starting to think I should’ve gotten the a7r ii. Will the a7ii hold up for a portrait business? Especially for the next couple of years? Thanks for those that answer
I just subscribe your channel now .. and which one can is better for beginner a full frem of Apsc??
Dude… You didn't mention anything about your Canon glass… Are all these autofocus tests on Sony lenses or adapted Canon? Kind of important info
I have the Sony a6400 and thinking of upgrade to full frame. This is not for professional work. I only use my camera for travel to take photos. I have seen a lot of good deals on the A7ii. Would the a7ii be good enough for travel or should I spend the money to buy the a7iii?
Your fuggin gorgeous
What microphone did you use in this? Sounds so crisp!
Julia, have you tried to use an adaptor on your a73?
In terms of af is your 5dmk4 on pair with the a7/73?
Thank you
is the a7 II good for sports? with a max of 5fps is it enough?
How about the a7ii versus the a6400? 🙂
Been using the A7 II for three years now. It’s a great camera and I think it’s all about how you edit. Both cameras are vastly superior compared to any other mirrored cameras on the market. The sensors are amazing and the speed of the shooting is amazing. If you’ve never used a Sony camera you will be blown away by both. The one thing I noticed mainly in this video is the ease of editing. I noticed she had a much easier time getting rid of distractions in the image and the light pollution. Plus the a7 III looked a lot more true to color which was pretty cool. But honestly if you’re saavy with using color channels in Lightroom this isn’t an issue. Definitely would love to field test an A7 III though
comparing dynamic range on a raw a7iii file vs a jpg a7ii file, nice and fair lol
Invest in lenses people, not camera bodies
At the end of the day, , Sony A7iii is for a winner even it costs more.
SO helpful Juila! I'm caught in between upgrading from my a7II. I use it for work, but don't use it as frequent. I did get the Tampon 17-28 f2.8 and sony 55m 1.8. I like the a7iii for the dynamic range, Eye AF, 4k video and battery life, but only got the a7II for $849. It's still a really good camera though! Hope to visit New Zealand one day. Made it to Australia, but would love to go to NZ!
Battery life. Battery life. Battery life. I love my A7ii, but the Battery life, OY! The new features on the A7iii are tempting, but the only real thing that tempts me to move up to the iii is the stunningly crappy battery life on my A7ii. I have 4 batteries in my single bag. and it’s often not enough. But, yes, if you are going for a budget buy, the A7ii take GREAT pictures…just buy at least 3 batteries. At Least.3.
Hi
in one of your video you mentioned Image Stabilisation can reduce the quality
if Im right then between a7 mark 1 and 2 the only difference is IS in body
then maybe a7 still good choice
Can I have one of these please Ahahha
